Most people have seen the signs that claim ‘we buy houses in Massachusetts’, and may scoff or ignore it (although not on a subconscious level). Many homeowners never think they will need these services, but you may find yourself in a situation where you want or need to sell your home quickly and may think about these companies. Are they scams? Do they give you fair prices? These questions can’t easily be answered unless you research the companies. There are some scammers out there, so it’s best to visit each website and get as much information before choosing a company with which to work.
You Need Cash; They Know It
Homeowners who need to sell quickly usually can’t wait for a traditional buyer. They can’t spend the time to hire a realtor, wait for all the showings and advertisements, and get someone with good enough credit who is willing to buy it. These cash-for-home companies know that there are people like you out there and are there to help. However, some people call them scammers because they don’t give fair market value. The problem is that fair market value can be anything you want it to be. While an assessor might tell you how much the house is worth, there are other factors, such as the location, any issues, and what décor you choose.
Regardless, cash-for-house companies are willing to pay you cash and don’t care what is wrong with the property. Of course, they do have the upper hand because they are going to offer what they think is fair and they know you are in a dire situation and want/need the money. However, you always have a choice not to take their offer and can select another cash-for-home company to compare prices. You can also choose to go the traditional route if time permits.
